Resort location
Each resort has a latitude and longitude used for its map marker. The marker is reviewed in a local map tool and placed at a useful point within or near the main ski area.

This page explains how resort locations, boundaries, piste files, facts and images are prepared for Skiviva.
Area boundary
A polygon is drawn around the ski area. It is used to connect relevant piste and lift geometry to the resort and to avoid pulling in unrelated nearby areas.
Pistes and lifts
OpenSkiMap and OpenStreetMap geometry is processed into a separate JSON file for each resort. The map shows the available geometry as it existed in the source data at the time of the latest build.
Published figures
Piste kilometres, lifts and elevation are checked against resort information and ski datasets where available. Figures can use different counting methods and should be treated as a comparison aid, not a contractual statement.
Images
Images are selected for the relevant resort area and stored with source or credit information where available. Rights and licence terms must be checked before an image is published.
Updates and corrections
Resort records and piste files are rebuilt when source data is updated. Corrections can be reported through the contact page and are reviewed against an appropriate source.
How piste kilometres are handled
The total kilometre figure shown for a resort is a published resort-level statistic when one is available. The visible line geometry on the map is prepared independently from open map data, so measuring every displayed segment may not produce exactly the same total. Resorts also differ in whether they count routes, repeated variants and connected sectors.
How countries are assigned
A resort’s stored country is used when supplied. Missing country fields were assigned from the marker coordinates so the resort can appear in a country directory. Cross-border areas are listed under the country associated with the stored marker or an explicitly reviewed country value.
