Two villages sit either side of a bare fell in Finnish Lapland, well north of the Arctic Circle. The runs are long and gentle rather than steep, and the cross-country network around them is enormous. What people come for is the light — polar dusk in December, very long clear days by March, and northern lights on cold nights.
