A resort in the Altai mountains of northern Xinjiang, near the village of Hemu in the Kanas region, and one of the newest large ski developments in China. The terrain runs from 1385 up to 2765 metres, which gives a substantial vertical, and the area sits in a part of the world with a long snow season and cold dry conditions. The Kanas region is known for its lake, its forest and the Tuvan and Kazakh communities who live there, and Hemu itself is a village of timber houses that has become a destination in its own right.
