Le Sauze 1400 / Le Super-Sauze 1700
Plan the trip
A resort above Barcelonnette in the Ubaye valley in the southern Alps, one of the older ski areas in France with a history going back to the 1930s.
The skiing is sunny and wooded lower down with open terrain above, running up to nearly 2400 metres, and the terrain is more varied than the size suggests with genuine steeps for people who look for them.
Barcelonnette in the valley is a real town with a market, restaurants and a curious Mexican architectural legacy from returning emigrants. Prices are low, the pistes are quiet even in French holidays, and a car is more or less necessary because this valley is a long way from anywhere.
