Les Orres

Plan the trip
A resort in the Hautes Alpes above the Serre Ponçon lake, in a landscape of larch forest and southern light, with a reputation for sunshine that the surrounding southern Alps generally deserve. The skiing runs from 1550 up to 2700 metres, which gives a good vertical and a reliable snow record, and the terrain is mostly intermediate with wooded lower slopes and open ground above.
Serre Ponçon is one of the largest reservoirs in Europe and the view down onto it from the upper runs is the memorable part. The base is purpose built but in wood rather than concrete, prices are moderate, and Embrun and Gap in the valley have real French life going on.
