Plan the trip

A quiet cross border area in the eastern Dolomites, running from Sesto and San Candido in South Tyrol towards the Austrian frontier, named after the three rock towers that stand above it. The towns are bilingual, the food culture is strong and there are very few foreign visitors.

The skiing is well groomed, sunny and mostly intermediate, with a cross border link that gives a real sense of an outing rather than laps. It is part of the Dolomiti Superski pass but sits a long way from the busy Sella circuit, so the pistes stay quiet.

The cross country skiing in the Fiscalina and Sesto valleys is superb and worth taking lessons for even if you have never tried it.

Family run hotels serve half board that is a genuine reason to stay in, at prices moderate for the Dolomites. Quiet evenings, good bakeries, and a spa in most hotels.
