A small, quiet area in the far eastern Dolomites near the Austrian border, with Padola and Santo Stefano di Cadore in the valley below. It is part of the Dolomiti Superski pass while sitting about as far from the crowded Sella circuit as it is possible to get.

The skiing is sunny, well groomed and suited to families and improvers, with short queues and reasonable prices. The Val Comelico has kept an old Ladin and Alpine culture that is quite distinct from the tourist valleys.

The cross country trails through the surrounding forest are extensive and well maintained, and the setting under the Dolomite peaks is as good as anywhere in the range. A place for a quiet week rather than a busy one.
