A family first Colorado resort with the largest floodlit ski operation in the state, which effectively lengthens the day and lets children stay out until dark. The mountain is three peaks deep. A broad, gentle, heavily groomed front side, steeper tree skiing behind it, and hike to or snowcat served bowls at the back for serious snow. Beginners are very well provided for.

The base villages are purpose built, pleasant and quiet in the evening, with condos and hotels cheaper than Vail or Beaver Creek and kids ski free arrangements worth planning the trip around. Night skiing, a snow tubing hill and one of the largest outdoor ice rinks in the country, out on the lake, fill the evenings.
