Plan the trip

The highest of the three linked areas above Santiago in the Chilean Andes, with the base at 2860 metres and lifts reaching over 3600, which gives it the most reliable snow of the group.

The terrain is high, treeless and extensive, with plenty of intermediate runs and serious off piste for people with a guide. Heli skiing operates from here. The base is a compact cluster of hotels built in the 1980s in a modernist style, and it is entirely self contained. There is nothing else within reach on the mountain. The season runs June to September and Santiago is around ninety minutes away by a road of many hairpins. Andean snowfall varies from year to year, so check recent reports.
