Artesina

Plan the trip
One of the four sectors of Mondolè Ski in Piedmont, above the Val Casotto, joined by lift to Prato Nevoso and Frabosa. It sits in the Maritime Alps close to the Ligurian coast, which is an unusual position for a ski area of this size. The skiing is broad, sunny and mostly intermediate, spread across open slopes with a decent range of easy terrain and a snow record helped by moist air coming off the Mediterranean. Turin is around an hour and a half away and the sea is closer still. The base is a compact modern development rather than an old village. Prices are moderate, the crowds are light outside Italian holiday weeks, and the Piedmontese cooking in the valley below is a reason to stay for dinner.
