Plan the trip
Lenggries is one of the most traditional holiday villages in Bavaria and Brauneck above it has been drawing regulars for generations. Munich is sixty kilometres away, which makes this one of the first mountains that city reaches for.
The terrain is more varied than the modest height suggests, with plenty of runs down the front face and a long descent back to the valley when the snow reaches that far. It suits families and confident intermediates.
The area is easy to reach by train from Munich in around an hour, so a car is unnecessary. Weekends fill with day traffic and midweek is quiet. Lenggries itself has guesthouses, beer and an ordinary Bavarian life going on around the tourism.
