Plan the trip

The mountain that held the alpine events of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, in Kananaskis Country an hour west of the city, and built specifically for those Games.

The terrain reflects that origin, with long consistent race pitches and thorough snowmaking, which it needs because this side of the Rockies is drier than the resorts further west.

It is the closest ski area to Calgary, so weekends fill with day traffic and midweek stays quiet. Kananaskis Country around it is protected provincial parkland with a good deal of wildlife, and there is lodging in the valley rather than at the base.
