Nordland, Norway

Narvikfjellet

Plan the trip

The largest ski area in northern Norway, rising straight out of the town of Narvik with the runs dropping towards the Ofotfjord, and the venue for the alpine World Championships in 2029. The vertical is close to 900 metres, which is among the biggest in the country, and the terrain is serious with steep upper runs and long descents. The gondola climbs from the town centre.

Skiing here in spring under the midnight sun, or in midwinter under the northern lights, is the reason people make the journey. Narvik has an airport nearby and is on the Ofoten railway line to Sweden. The Lofoten islands are within reach for a day.
