Plan the trip

The largest area in New Hampshire, sitting beneath Mount Washington in a broad valley with the grand Omni Mount Washington Hotel in front of it. The hotel is a landmark in its own right, built in 1902, and the international monetary conference of 1944 that gave the place its name was held inside it.

The skiing is gentle, wide and beautifully groomed, which makes this one of the best learning mountains in New England. There is glade skiing for people who want it, but the mountain is not trying to be steep. The view across to the Presidential Range is the finest from any lift in the eastern United States. There is also a large cross country network and a canopy tour, and the whole place is set up for families rather than for hard chargers.
