Plan the trip

A mountain in Pinkham Notch in New Hampshire, facing directly across at Mount Washington and the Tuckerman Ravine, which is the finest view from any lift in the eastern United States. The terrain is a good vertical with long classic New England runs, narrow and often firm, and the mountain has a reputation for being cold and exposed.

There is no lodging at the base and no development in the notch, because it sits in national forest. North Conway is around half an hour away with plenty of accommodation. The auto road up Mount Washington is right there, though it closes in winter.
