The largest ski area on Mount Hood in Oregon, on the south east flank of a volcano that stays snow covered all year. It sits about ninety minutes from Portland, which makes it the main mountain for that city. The terrain is more varied than most people expect, with open bowls above the treeline, gladed runs lower down and long groomed pistes in between. The season is long and the snowfall is heavy, since Pacific storms hit this mountain first.

Cloud and flat light are part of the deal on a volcano, so keep a spare day in the plan. There is no lodging at the ski area itself, and most people stay in Government Camp or Hood River, or simply drive up for the day.
