Plan the trip

A mountain on the Cascade crest in Washington, around two hours from Seattle, with terrain on both sides of the pass and a back bowl that faces away from the road.

The snowfall is heavy coastal snow in quantity, and the mountain sits high enough to keep it cold more often than the lower passes manage. Night skiing runs on the front side.

There is no lodging at the pass. Leavenworth on the eastern side is a Bavarian themed town that is busier than it sounds, and Skykomish on the western side is small. The pass road can close in storms, so check conditions before setting out.
