Piancavallo
Plan the trip
A ski area on a plateau in Friuli in northeastern Italy, above the Veneto plain, and the closest snow to Venice which is around ninety minutes away. The terrain is compact and mostly intermediate at around 1300 to 1800 metres, with thorough snowmaking and a good learning area. The plateau position gives long views south across the plain towards the Adriatic on clear days.
Pordenone below is a working Friulian town, and the region has a strong food and wine tradition of its own. Prices are moderate and the crowds are largely regional.
