Plan the trip

A mountain village on the Bergen railway between Oslo and Bergen, at the edge of the Hardangervidda, and one of the oldest ski destinations in Norway. The skiing spreads across both sides of the valley with a good deal of gentle terrain, which suits families and improvers, and the runs are served by a large number of lifts for the size of the area.

The railway is the reason to come without a car. Trains stop in the middle of the village and both cities are within a few hours. Geilo is as much a cross country place as a downhill one, with extensive trails onto the plateau, and it has hotels rather than only cabins.
