A ski area in the far northeast of Italy where the country meets Austria and Slovenia, with a cable car climbing from the town to the Monte Lussari sanctuary at 1760 metres.

The village at the top is a pilgrimage site with a church and a handful of houses, and skiing down from it is unlike anywhere else in the Alps. The area held a World Cup finals and the Giro d'Italia has finished here.

The terrain is largely intermediate with a good vertical and a long descent to the valley. Three languages and three cuisines meet in this valley, and the Friulian food is worth staying for. Udine is around an hour away.
