Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area

Plan the trip
A non profit community mountain twenty five kilometres from downtown Boise, run for the benefit of the area rather than for shareholders, which shows in the ticket prices and in the atmosphere.
It has one of the largest night skiing operations in the United States, with a substantial share of the terrain floodlit, and that is how much of Boise uses it after work. The terrain covers both sides of a ridge, so there is usually one aspect holding better snow than the other, with a good spread from learning slopes to steeper tree runs. There is very little lodging on the mountain. Boise is close enough that almost everyone drives up, and the road is a long series of switchbacks that takes about half an hour.
