Canaan Valley Ski Resort
Plan the trip
A state park resort in the highlands of West Virginia, in a broad valley at over a thousand metres that holds cold and snow better than anywhere else in the mid Atlantic.
The terrain is gentle and mainly intermediate with a good learning area, and snowmaking covers nearly all of it. There is night skiing and a substantial cross country network in the surrounding state park.
Because it is state owned there is no real estate around the base and prices are low, with a lodge on site. The valley is a protected wetland of national importance and the wildlife is a genuine part of the appeal. Washington is around four hours away.
