The only ski area in Maryland, on Deep Creek Lake in the western part of the state, and the winter destination for a substantial part of the mid Atlantic.

The vertical is modest and the terrain is mostly gentle with a good learning area and extensive snowmaking, which does nearly all the work at this latitude. Floodlit evening skiing runs through the season.

Deep Creek Lake is the year round draw, and the resort is set up as a four season destination with a lodge, golf and a mountain coaster. Pittsburgh and Washington are both around three hours away, which makes it a weekend rather than a week.
