Plan the trip

The biggest area in North Carolina, in the Blue Ridge mountains near Banner Elk, and the main winter destination for the southeastern United States.

The vertical is respectable for the region and the terrain is a good spread with gentle learning ground and steeper runs off the top, though snowmaking does almost all the work at this latitude.

There is night skiing, an ice rink and a tubing park, and the resort operates as a full winter destination for people who would otherwise have a very long drive.

Boone and Banner Elk nearby have accommodation and restaurants, and the Blue Ridge Parkway runs close by.
