Plan the trip

On the western slope of the Tetons in Wyoming, reached through Idaho, and famous for getting more snow than almost anywhere in the American Rockies. Locals call it Grand Foghee for the same reason, because the storms that bring the snow bring the cloud with them.

The terrain is mostly open bowls and glades, gentle to moderate in pitch, which makes it one of the best places in the country to ski deep snow if you are not an expert. There is a snowcat operation on a second peak for people who want more.

It is small, remote and unpolished, with a handful of lodges at the base and Driggs in the valley below. The view of the back of the Tetons on a clear day is the one people photograph.
