A non profit community mountain outside Bozeman in Montana, run for the benefit of local skiers, with a ridge above the lifts that requires an avalanche transceiver to access and gives some of the most serious inbounds terrain in the country.

Below the ridge the mountain is a good deal friendlier, with a spread of groomed runs and excellent tree skiing, and the ticket prices are a fraction of what the destination resorts charge.

Bozeman is twenty minutes away and Big Sky an hour, so the two combine well.
