A resort in the Belledonne range close to Grenoble, spread across a high plateau dotted with the seven lakes that give it the name, and one of the better options for people who live in the city.

The terrain is varied with a good vertical, wooded runs lower down and open ground above, and it is more serious than most resorts this close to a city. There is a well known night skiing operation and a strong freeride following.

Prices are low and the crowds are local and French. Weekends fill and midweek is quiet.

Grenoble is around forty five minutes away and Lyon a little over an hour and a half, which makes this an easy long weekend rather than a week.
