A resort in the Pyrénées Orientales in French Catalonia, sitting above a village of the same name on the Capcir plateau. The area faces north, which keeps the snow in good order despite the southern latitude, and the sunshine here is remarkable.

The skiing runs from the village up towards the Roc d'Aude, with a decent range of terrain and a snowmaking system that covers most of it. There is a wildlife park at the foot of the slopes with brown bears, bison and wolves, which children remember longer than the skiing.

The Catalan culture on this side of the border is strong and the food follows it. Prices sit well below the Alps, and Font Romeu and the other Capcir areas are close enough for a change of hill.
