Plan the trip

One of the largest resorts in the French Pyrenees, above a genuine old village in the Aure valley, with three linked sectors climbing from the village up to nearly 2500 metres. A cable car runs from the middle of the village, so you can stay in a working Pyrenean settlement with stone houses and a Saturday market rather than in a purpose built base, and be on the snow in minutes.

The skiing is varied with good beginner areas at Pla d'Adet, long intermediate runs and steeper ground at Espiaube. Snowmaking is extensive, which matters at this latitude. The thermal baths of Sensoria in the village are the standard end to a day, and the Néouvielle nature reserve nearby has dozens of high lakes. Prices are well below the Alps.
