A resort above Bagnères de Luchon in the central French Pyrenees, on a plateau reached by cable car directly from the town, which is an unusually convenient arrangement. The terrain is sunny and chiefly intermediate with a good vertical down towards the valley and open ground at the top, and the view across the Pyrenean chain from the plateau is the memorable part. Luchon below is a thermal spa town of some standing with a grand nineteenth century centre and baths still in use, and staying there rather than on the mountain is much the better option. Toulouse is around two hours away and Peyragudes is close by on a separate ticket.
