A high valley in Tyrol with four villages spread along it, of which Niederau is the main ski base. It has a long standing British following that goes back to the early package holiday years. The skiing is gentle and wooded and suits families and improvers well, with good learning areas and enough red mileage for a confident skier. The Ski Juwel pass links it to Alpbach over the ridge, which roughly doubles the ground available.

The Wildschönau is a working farming valley and the villages have kept that character, with guesthouses and half board hotels at prices below the famous Tyrolean names. Innsbruck is around forty five minutes away and Salzburg an hour and a half.
