St Johann in Tirol

Plan the trip
A working Tyrolean market town at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser, with a ski area on the Kitzbüheler Horn above it. The town has a life outside tourism, with shops and a Saturday market that serve the people who live there.
The skiing is sunny, broad and mostly intermediate, with a long descent back to the valley and good beginner areas at the bottom. It is noticeably cheaper than Kitzbühel fifteen minutes down the road, and the same big name resorts are within easy reach by bus for a change of hill. There is a large cross country network in the valley and a well known toboggan run. Guesthouses and family hotels are good value, and the evenings are quiet without being empty.
