Plan the trip

Neukirchen am Großvenediger and Bramberg sit in the Pinzgau valley beneath a broad sunny mountain, both still working Austrian villages rather than resorts, between the Hohe Tauern national park and the Kitzbühel Alps.

The area is best known for its floodlit toboggan run, which drops fourteen kilometres from the top and is among the longest in the world. It is the thing people remember afterwards, and it runs into the evening.

The skiing is wide, easy and quiet, with a great deal of gentle intermediate terrain and views across to the high Tauern peaks. Families and improvers do well here.

Guesthouses and half board hotels are inexpensive by Austrian standards. The Krimml waterfalls are nearby and the Kitzsteinhorn glacier is a day trip away if the valley snow is thin.
