A long, strung out area running from Zell am Ziller over Gerlos to Königsleiten and Hochkrimml, which gives a real sense of travelling somewhere across the day.

Zell is a working Tyrolean town with a brewery and a life outside tourism. Gerlos and Königsleiten are smaller and sit closer to the snow, and the higher sectors hold conditions better than the Zell end does. The Gerlosstein side has been rebuilt around family attractions in recent years.

The skiing is broad, sunny and firmly intermediate, with a well organised lift system and long red runs. Families do well here and it is noticeably cheaper than the Tyrolean names further west.

Guesthouses and half board hotels are good value by Austrian standards, and half board is worth taking, because the cooking at the family run houses is a large part of what you are paying for. Après ski exists without dominating, and there is a floodlit toboggan run for the evenings.
