Plan the trip

A busy Zillertal town with a genuine year round life, a lively bar scene and a reputation among British visitors going back decades. The gondola leaves from the middle of town, so everything is walkable. The Harakiri, one of the steepest marked pistes in Europe, drops off the mountain above and everyone talks about it. The rest of the skiing is mostly broad sunny intermediate terrain across two sectors, with a strong park and good ski schools.

The valley station is low, so aim for midwinter rather than the shoulder months. The glacier at Hintertux is twenty minutes up the valley as insurance if the snow is late. Hotels and apartments fill the town, and the Erlebnisbad spa is the standard afternoon off.
