Northstar at Tahoe Resort

Plan the trip
The most sheltered of the Tahoe resorts, with runs cut through dense pine forest that keep working when wind and flat light have closed the exposed mountains nearby. That alone makes it worth knowing about.
The terrain is mostly gentle and intermediate with excellent grooming, a strong terrain park programme and a well regarded ski school, which makes it the Tahoe choice for families. There is steeper terrain on the back side for people who want it.
The base village is purpose built, pedestrian and comfortable, with an ice rink, fire pits and restaurants, and it is livelier in the evening than most North American bases.
Reno airport lies about an hour off, and Truckee down the hill is a real town with its own life.
