Pajarito Mountain

Plan the trip

A small mountain above Los Alamos in northern New Mexico, run for many years by a ski club and still with that character, on a volcanic ridge at over 3000 metres. The terrain is steeper than the size suggests with a good vertical and genuine advanced runs, and the snow is dry because of the altitude. It operates on a limited schedule that depends on conditions, so check before making the drive. Los Alamos is the town built for the Manhattan Project and there is a museum about it. Santa Fe sits an hour away and has a larger ski area of its own.
