Red River Ski Area
Plan the trip
A small mountain in northern New Mexico with the runs dropping straight into the main street of the town, which is unusual and means you can walk from your room to the lift. The terrain is a good spread with gentle learning ground and steeper runs off the top, and the base sits at 2600 metres so the snow stays dry.
Red River is a former mining town with a western main street and a strong Texan following, since it is one of the closest mountains to that state. Taos is roughly an hour away over a pass and gives a much bigger day when you want one.
