A mountain above Santa Fe in New Mexico with a base at 3150 metres and a summit approaching 3700, which is high enough to give dry snow at a latitude that should not have any.

The terrain is a good spread with gentle learning ground, comfortable intermediate cruising and steeper runs off the summit ridge, and the mountain is rarely crowded.

Santa Fe itself is the draw. It is a four hundred year old adobe city with galleries, a strong food culture and a distinct Spanish and Pueblo heritage, and it is twenty five minutes below.

That combination of a serious high mountain and a city with real cultural depth is unusual in American skiing.
