High in New Mexico with a summit at 3255 metres. This is the family resort of the southern Rockies, and the range of things to do stretches well past the skiing. There is a golf course at 2620 metres, over ninety kilometres of bike trail, and a summer chairlift the resort lists as the longest and fastest in North America.

The altitude gives dry snow and a long season. The air is thin enough that the first day is worth taking gently. Lift tickets bought 72 hours ahead cost less.
