The mountain above Schladming in Styria, and one of the best known race venues in the world. The Planai night slalom in January draws crowds of tens of thousands into a floodlit finish area in the middle of town, and the atmosphere is closer to a football match than a ski race. The skiing is broad and well groomed and mostly intermediate, and the area is part of the four mountain Schladming Dachstein network and the wider Ski amadé pass. Hochwurzen next door has a floodlit toboggan run of seven kilometres that runs into the evening. Schladming is a proper Styrian town with a walkable centre, good places to eat and a railway station, and the Dachstein glacier is half an hour away for near certain snow.
