Plan the trip

Part of the large Gstaad ski region in the Bernese Oberland, covering the sunny slopes above Schönried and Saanenmöser and running down towards Zweisimmen and St Stephan.

The skiing is gentle, sunny and unhurried, spread across a wide area of rolling terrain that suits families and improvers particularly well. The Rellerli and Horneggli sectors are the ones most people use, and the whole area is on the Gstaad pass with several other mountains.

Gstaad itself is one of the most exclusive addresses in the Alps, though the outlying villages are far more affordable and just as well placed for the lifts.

The MOB railway runs through the valley, which makes getting around simple without a car and gives one of the more scenic rail journeys in Switzerland.
