A small area in the Surselva in Graubünden, above a Romansh speaking village at around 1300 metres, and quiet in a way the big Swiss names are not. The selling point is that you can ski from the hotel door onto the piste without queueing or crowds. It is compact, family oriented and unhurried, and the local ski school is small enough that instructors know the children by name. The terrain climbs to 2400 metres with mostly intermediate runs and good beginner ground lower down. Laax and Disentis are both close if you want a bigger mountain for a day. The Surselva has its own language and its own food, and the mountain restaurants here take both seriously.
