Elk Mountain Ski Resort

Plan the trip
A mountain in the Endless Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, north of the Poconos, and consistently rated the best skiing in the mid Atlantic by people who ski the region regularly.
It is steeper and more serious than the Pocono hills to the south, with 27 trails across 180 acres and a genuine fall line. The crowds are noticeably thinner too, because it takes more effort to reach.
The operation is old fashioned in the good sense, family run with a lodge and a restaurant rather than a resort complex.
Scranton is around forty minutes away and New York about three hours. It rewards the extra driving if you want to ski rather than queue.
