Hunter Mountain

Plan the trip
The best known ski area in the Catskills, around two and a half hours from New York City, and the mountain a great many New Yorkers learned on.
The terrain is a good spread with genuinely steep runs on the west side alongside gentle learning ground, and snowmaking here has a long history and covers essentially everything.
Weekends are very busy and midweek is far calmer, which is the pattern for any mountain this close to the city.
Hunter and Tannersville villages below have places to eat and stay, and the Catskill forest preserve keeps the surroundings undeveloped.
