Salzburg, Austria
Katschberg-Aineck

Plan the trip
A resort straddling the Katschberg pass between Salzburg province and Carinthia, with hotels lined along the pass itself and the runs dropping away on both sides.
Almost every bed is ski in and ski out, which is the practical argument for coming here, and the two sides give different aspects so there is usually one with better light.
The terrain is wide and sunny and chiefly intermediate with a good beginner area. It is part of the Ski amadé pass, which opens a great deal more if you have a car.
There is a long floodlit toboggan run, and the Lungau plateau nearby records some of the coldest temperatures in Austria, which helps the snow.
