Turracher Höhe

Plan the trip
A high pass between Carinthia and Styria at 1800 metres, described as the most snow sure area in either province, with a lake in the middle of the village that freezes each winter. The terrain is wide and mainly intermediate with a decent range of easy ground, and the altitude means the season is more reliable than most of this part of Austria.
The Nockberge national park surrounds it, with rounded grassy summits that look quite different from the limestone Alps further west. The village is a compact cluster of hotels around the lake and almost everything is ski in and ski out. Klagenfurt is roughly an hour away.
