Carinthia, in the Nock mountains, with five separate ways into the area so queues rarely build anywhere. The pistes are noticeably wide, which is the first thing most people mention, and they are cut for long unhurried turns rather than short sharp ones. The name tells you what else the place is known for. The thermal baths are as much a part of the week as the skiing, and an afternoon there is something many people plan the day around.

There is a snowpark, a funline and a slope kept for children, four ski schools and a ski kindergarten. The UNESCO Nockberge biosphere park surrounds the whole thing, with routes to walk on foot or on snowshoes, and huts and alpine dairies serving Carinthian food and punch.
