Plan the trip

A sunny terrace above the Haslital in the Bernese Oberland, with the villages of Hasliberg spread along it and Meiringen in the valley below connected by cable car.

The skiing is wide and sunny and mostly intermediate, with a good vertical down to the valley floor and views across to the Wetterhorn and the surrounding peaks. It suits families and improvers well and stays quieter than Grindelwald over the hill.

Meiringen is where the meringue is said to have been invented and where Conan Doyle sent Sherlock Holmes over the Reichenbach Falls, which the town has made a good deal of. Interlaken is around half an hour away and the Aare gorge nearby is worth an afternoon.
