Saddleback Mountain

Plan the trip
A mountain in western Maine near Rangeley, closed for several years and reopened in 2020 after a community backed purchase, which is a large part of its story.
The terrain has one of the bigger verticals in the east with a good deal of levels and some genuinely steep runs off the summit ridge, plus extensive glades.
It is remote, which keeps the crowds down, and the Rangeley lakes region around it is quiet forest and water country. Portland is around three hours away and Boston about five. Prices are lower than at the better known New England resorts.
